What Lille produced
At Croix, Robert Mallet-Stevens completed the Villa Cavrois in 1932 for a textile industrialist. Now restored and open to the public, it is one of the most complete statements of French modernism, right down to the furniture, since the architect designed everything. A few kilometres away, Euralille was built in the nineties as a business district on a master plan by Rem Koolhaas.
What we find there
The industrial North gave rise to a bourgeoisie that had its furniture designed by architects. Its estates therefore release coherent ensembles, sometimes still in the same family since they were bought, which is ideal for documenting provenance. And at 225 km from Paris, Lille is the closest regional city to us.
What we look for first
- The large houses of Croix, Marcq-en-Barœul, La Madeleine and Bondues hold well-kept, documented ensembles, which come first for us.
- We also take USM Haller from the offices of Euralille and the business parks around the city.
- French inter-war modernist furniture in the Mallet-Stevens line interests us when it can be identified. It is rare, hard to authenticate and often misjudged elsewhere.

We value from photographs wherever the piece is, so distance makes no difference to how quickly we reply. The valuation comes with an offer of outright purchase or consignment.
Collection
In Lille, we arrange collection, and on an outright purchase we pay for it. A specialist carrier or one of our own runs handles it, and you have nothing to pack or dismantle. The 225 km or so from Paris go into our calculation, and we confirm the timing with the offer.
Payment
On an outright purchase, we pay by bank transfer on the day of signature, within 48 working hours at the latest, and never in cash above legal thresholds. On consignment, you remain the owner until the sale, and we take a commission agreed in advance.
We can also come and value in person, usually from five pieces or for a configuration of real value. We work from Paris and Auxerre, and we have no establishment in Lille.
